“This is the first time that I saw a whale.” That was Nessa’s second sentence today. She said it with such excitement and eagerness. (I was reminded of the passage in the Talmud where God teaches unborn babies the entire Torah and takes them on a tour of His creation in a sequence that the rabbi compares to dreaming of Spain.) Her first sentence was, “Good morning, Daddy.” I asked if she had been having a dream. She said yes and asked if I saw my dreams. It came out later that the whale was going to “swallow everyone up” and then a man shot the whale “like God saving all of us.” We watched the Veggie Tales Jonah this past weekend and then Elizabeth read the story to Nessa that evening at Bible time.
